650r oil light on dash
Hi
does anyone know what this warning light actually does, is it a oil pressure warning light, or a low oil level light, the owners manual doesn't mention it at all.
cheers

Re: 650r oil light on dash
well it definitely isn't a oil pressure warning light, according to the manual you have to do check this yourself with a pressure gauge, there is talk that it could be a low oil warning light.
I havnt got my head round posting pics yes, I will keep trying.
cheers

stator and regulator
still struggling with the photos I will get there eventually.
anyother question for you
is there aftermarket stator and regulator for the 650r or compatable ones from other bikes, as I have read lots of bad things about the standard ones, so im preparing myself ready for the charging failure which will proberbly happen.
cheers keith

Re: 650r oil light on dash
Yes Keith , there are alternatives that are cheaper AND more than likely more reliable
For the stator ....... Kawasaki GPZ500 ( some call it EX500 ) - all years are the same
For the rectifier ...... Yamaha R1 year model 2002 on ( earlier models only have one outlet whereas the later one along with the Hyosung one have two )
There are others ( mine came from America ) but these are at the top end of the spectrum ( read effing expensive )
I bought a MOSFET reg/rec from Roadstercycle.com , which cost ( along with shipping AND import duty ) around £140+ .............. pattern ones from Ebay can be had for around £40 and to be fair , there isn't much difference
