ello ello :) Empty Twins...

Post by Icurus Thu 30 Jan 2014 - 23:27

Hi, Nickc, It appears we have "twin" bikes after looking at your pic! Nice to see another one. Slight difference...you have white LEDs, mine are neon blue, I will try to post a pic after I fit them.

Oh sorry, on closer inspection...you have twin discs...probably larger engine,

Begining to look like "twins" is a stretch at best! lol!

Hi Nick, could you tell me how you wired in your LEDs... I have looked around near the headlights but need to know which colour cables to connect to each other. The LEDs have to tiny wires each...of the same colour so dont really know what to do. Maybe I could connect to the dash light as its 12 volt and on all the time. My side light is on permanantly so maybe there, i dont know,
Thanks in advance, Icurus

I joined mine into the side light as I wanted them on whenever the ignition was on, all I did was extend wires on led strips then trace side light wires and joined them in Smile

yeah, will look at doing the same...LED wires are really thin though so extending could be a problem unless I can find really thin wire somewhere. The wires are the same colour so hard to tell what is positive or negative! Will try to trace sidelight wires...Im guessing I should start my search at the headlight...
I installed the alarm ok so dont know why im nervous about doing this

The wires on mine are thin too but just used a slightly thicker wire and soldered them together it works fine Wink

That would be great, how do i know what is positive and negative though as they are the same colour? Light brownish. Thanks for your help.

LEDs will only work one way mate so use the exposed ends and pop them on your battery one to each side and see what happens when you get them the right way they will light up

No worries mate..had to put the LEDs on hold as ive found a crack in the exhaust near the silencer. I checked the rest as a precaution and found the front pipe is shot, cat is shot too so I need a new full new system. Looked around on the net at motounion, mtc and scorpion and they all come in around £450. Cheapest is full stainless from motounion at £350. Will have to fit myself so wondering how much work would be involved? Has to be done so saving a couple of weeks wages, cant patch or seal as there are too many holes, similar to a strainer! Probably why its running rough. Simple or tough job with few proper tools?

swapping exhaust is quite straight forward, remove right hand lower fairing undo the clamp where the rear pipe joins collector box then there's a bolt that holds collector box to bottom of frame, 2 nuts on each cylinder and then the exhaust strap( you can also remove can if you want but probably best just to take off in one piece) and all being well it will pop off quite nicely 20 mins approx to remove then reverse to put back on
