MAKE SOME NOIZE
I don't always like a noisy bike. Sometimes I do though.
So I went to take the baffle out of my Blue Flame end can, because it's so quiet that you can barely hear the exhaust at all, most of the sound coming from the bike is the noise from the engine/gearbox unit itself.
But there was no baffle to remove - even that stubby thingy that goes on the the end of the final section of pipe has been removed.
Even with no baffle, it's near silent.
This got me thinking. I can baffle the Blue Flame, and have a super-quiet stealth exhaust, and swap it out for a different exhaust that makes a lot of noise for when I'm in the mood. But I'm not so sure how to make stuff noisy; my Yamaha was loud by design, but even with no exhaust, the GT125R sounds like a sewing machine.
So the question is simple:
what end-can or pipework modifications can I do to get maximum volume?

With an open pipe its too quiet? There's not very much you can do to make it more noisey. You could faff about with trying to fit an old fashioned megaphone onto the Hyosung exhaust flange but short of altering the cam profiles so that the exhaust valve opens earlier, there's just about sod all that springs to mind.. HA HA....other than to fit the bike out with a ghetto blaster and play Harley and Ducati ( them being V twins) sound tracks!Cloud. wrote:I don't always like a noisy bike. Sometimes I do though.

Re: MAKE SOME NOIZE
I put a costom exhaust on my bike and now it very loud it's almost too loud at times lol I cut the exhaust pipe about 5-6 inch from the exhaust manafold and attached some metal flexy pipe and ran it under the pillion seat removed the old brake light and fitted led ones and put some Remus exhausts on that come out where the brake lights were Then I put on some cone air intakes and adjusted the carbs to run a tad rich Now she sounds sweet hopes this helps The total cost was 100 pound for the parts

Re: MAKE SOME NOIZE
I'd love to know more about this. Any chance of hearing it?
I've been hacking up all kinds of things. Got a new DanMoto exhaust which I duly gutted and installed a megaphone cone into. Still sounded a bit wanky. So I've now got a super-stubby exhaust second-hand because I'd heard it on a bike, and it was louder than a non-baffled can, even with its baffles in. Just need to get a clamp for that and hopefully it'll do what I want.
If it doesn't, I'll take the whole system off, remove the equaliser box, have a 2:2 system so each cylinder has its own spout, and have an exhaust either side of the bike. I'm pretty sure it's the equalisation chamber that's muting the roar. If I take that out, I can have a pair of baffled Blue Flame for quiet, and some ultra-stubby something can go on when I want the loud.

Re: MAKE SOME NOIZE
I put the stubby can on.
It's too short to reach the support loop that bolts to the rear footpeg hanger. But it's a nice noise.

With this silencer on, my bike doesn't backfire. Disappointing.
