Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
I'm walking Baz, a bit sore and a few cuts, i managed to swerve to a point, just catching the left foot peg on the lower bumper of his car! knocking me off balance and throwing me across the road into a garden wall/driveway wall!!!
As far as i can tell, the main damage is both left and right foot pegs plus accompanying brake and gear levers, the right wing mirror, the front brake lever and the front right indicator!! and the rear brake master cylinder! the exhaust and body work didn't look damged! or even scratched!
parts and labour estimated around £800-£1000 on a £3000 bike :/ so we'll have to wait and see what the insurance company say about the cost of repair!! fingers crossed!

Good to hear your OK bud
I feel for you ( as you know , I've been there myself )
Don't forget it may have been £3K when you bought it but what is it's present market value

Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
Well, they've written the old girl off!!!!!
So I need to find out now how much I'm going to get for her and the accident in general and decide on what to buy next! I'm not totally sure on what to get next! I am looking at going up in size to a higher cc bike (not that the wife is pleased about that)
So any suggestions would be good, currently looking at a Suzi Bandit 1250 and a Hayabusa
Ill keep you all informed of the out come and potential replacement

Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
sorry about the smidsy... cager banged to rights at least. The cager who got me wasnt a sorry mate i didnt see you , she was more like a "couldnt give a shit you must have been doing 90 to have evaded detection by me, such a perfect driver" She got off with nothing other than a big insurance bill to pay.
Looks like the hedge must have jumped out and obscurred the view of you and your bike ( with headlamp blazing as evidenced by your photo).
Hope your next bike is a good 'un chap.

Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
My mate has just bought a Yamaha Fazer 1000 ( the early model ) , better than a Bandit IMHO ....... not as common either and with a re-tuned R1 engine ( less top end more mid range ) ..... I would highly recommend one ( they're a little above my price range ATM or I would have bought one myself already )
Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
I agree with Baz. I had a 2005 FZ6 which had a slightly softened R6 engine in it. The bike was hated by the born again bikers who wanted a soft tuned air cooled fazer replacement but it was a real hoot when you rode it like it was a detuned race bike with proper handlebars. The fazer 1000 is cast in that same mould. Its an absolute hooligan of a bike which is a darned sight safer than its race track oriented "arse in the air" R1 parent.

Well! It's a sad day, the GV650 AE was a fantastic and sexy bike, but I've been out test riding some bikes ready for when I get my cash (cheque clearing now)
The local Suzy garage here at just a bunch of twats, so won't be buying a bike from them, which just leaves the triumph garage

Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
Okay that's odd!! I wrote loads more than that, but its not showing up (not that I can see anyway)!!
Anyway I was just ranting on about the triumphs! I took a street triple for a test ride and loved it! And will be taking a speed triple for a test ride and possibly buying!
Any of you guys had experience with triumphs?

Re: BOLLOCKS!!! SMIDSY
I had a 1995 mark 1 speed triple which was based on the 1995 Daytona but without the front window. Excellent bike. way over engineered. Superb quality finish. From then on, speed triples just got progressively more brutal and aggressive. I never did try the Daytona 675 based street triple but I would imagine that John Blare in Hinckley wouldn't let Triumph go backwards. Besides, all good things are made in Leicestershire (my origin) I often joke with my Brummy mate that it took Triumph to move away from Birmingham in order for the oil leaks to stop.

Well! I've had the speed triple for about 3 weeks now, done the Brighton run on it and I absolutely love it! It's such an awesome machine to ride! And damn it's fast!!!
Will upload some pics when I get on my PC (on my phone)
