brake pads!
Well was out on the bike yesterday and noticed on the way home i had more travel in the read brake than normal! when i got home i removed the rear calliper to have a look and have very little pad left so have ordered a set of Goldfren ceramic carbon pads from M&P but i noticed a lot of black powder around the calliper and the pad itself was very rough almost like someone had pressed black sand onto it?? plus those pads have only been on the bike a year and done about 2k miles? Is this normal?? Any help is welcome

Re: brake pads!
Can you remember which brand of pads you used last time Jon ?
Sounds like standard Hyo compounds to me
My first set of rear pads ( standard Hyo fitment ) lasted less than 2000 miles before they literally fell apart ............ took the caliper off to clean it and the pad material fell to the floor leaving the back plate still in the caliper
Just a thought ............. the black powder , could it be some kind of dust from your drive belt rather than brake dust

Re: brake pads!
It was a standard ebc pad from my local triumph dealer (nearest bike garage)cost me £15 as well, powder definitely from pads! Did have problems with rear brake a few moths bake had so strip the pedal and slave cylinder down as it got stuck on at first, so calliper git very hot, then the sliding pin that pushes the hydrologic fluid got stuck and had no brake at all, but stripped and cleaned a put back together, but i suppose it could've effected the pads!

Re: brake pads!
Strange ........ EBC are usually very good ( I'm running EBC sintered pads on the front at the minute and Goldfren on the rear )
